THE FILM DISPATCH
Creative Freedom, Storytelling & Partnership Policy
Purpose
This policy communicates our core creative values and outlines the standards we uphold in every partnership. It establishes our stance on censorship, our commitment to liberated storytelling, and our long-term vision for the cultural impact we aim to build.
OUR ARTISTIC POSITION
1.1 Creative Freedom
We do not participate in or accept censorship that suppresses artistic expression, political truth, lived experiences, or marginalized voices.
We partner only with organizations who respect creative autonomy and uphold the principles of free, critical, and experimental storytelling.
1.2 Stories We Tell
Our work centers on:
liberation over oppression and cooperation over exploitation
bold, critical, and experimental narratives that challenge oppressive systems and provide alternative guiding visions
stories that uplift underrepresented communities and stay true to their experience
cinematic experiences that transport us to new worlds and provoke thought, empathy, and wild imagination
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES (“ ”)
El buen vivir - Our aim for The Good Life implies also the liberation of all beings, and we embody it by living joyfully, mindfully and intentionally.
Illuminators - We light up new emerging systems, recognizing the need to shed the old systems of oppression. From apex predators to apex stewards.
Aeffect: Art shapes us deeply; guided with intention, its effect is transformative. Stories move us more than facts - we use both for narrative warfare.
Convivir - One world where many worlds can coexist. We don’t believe in hierarchies, we propose, never impose.
Seriously - if we take anything too seriously, we don’t take life seriously at all. Everybody has a right to use their voice. Everybody.
Mycelium - our growth depends on the growth of our networks. We work symbiotically to share ideas, knowledge and resources when possible.
Flow - circumstances change and so do we, we adapt not to merely survive but to thrive. Our direction is still the embrace of life, complexity and beauty.
OUR METHOD: HOW WE CREATE
We Pay Attention — we see and listen.
We Craft — we create the new.
We Enjoy — we dance to invite others in.
and we reflect to repeat and begin again…
ECONOMIC & ETHICAL COMMITMENTS
Anti-Exploitation Standards
We do not participate in exploitative labor, predatory pricing, extractive partnerships, or cultural/creative gatekeeping.
We aim to the best of our ability to participate in local circular economies that replace globalized extrativist practices.
Collaborative Responsibility
Partners agree to uphold fair compensation, safe working environments, inclusion of diverse voices, and refusal of discriminatory practices.
Knowledge & Accessibility
We are deeply interested in skill sharing to support both local and global creative needs.
Our projects and events aim to be inclusive in things ranging from language, physical accessibility, financial fairness and more.
OUR LONG-TERM VISION
Utopian Direction
We point toward a world shaped by cooperation, creativity, interdependence, justice, and imagination.
Cultural Transformation
We think in systems and relationships to shift narratives, design new imaginaries, challenge the status quo, build new creative ecosystems, and create space for radical, critical film.
Intergenerational Impact
We extend the indigenous tradition of thinking of seven generations ahead to the next 7,000 generations. We understand this implies taking care of our biosphere and the complex web of life that sustains our own.
PARTNER EXPECTATIONS
By partnering with The Film Dispatch, you affirm support for uncensored expression, respect for story integrity, ethical practices, and our long-term vision.
CONCLUSION
The Film Dispatch builds a creative movement rooted in liberation, imagination, and critical storytelling. Together, we light up the new systems and together we build them, so that we all dance together.
